GOTO NYC 2010 Spring Information Session

This Saturday, we’ll be introducing our 6th grade scholarship nominees to Appel Farm Arts & Music Summer Camp and the fine volunteers of GOTO at our 2010 Spring Information Session.

A few camp Directors will be in the house. And so will current GOTO scholars, ready to share their experiences with nominated kids and answer questions from nervous parents.

Including all of the nominees, current scholars and families, we’re expecting a packed house, but any member of the GOTO family is welcome to attend.

All of the Info Session details are below. If you think you can make it, please RSVP here.

Hope to see you there!

Info Session Details:
Saturday March 6th from 11am-2pm (please arrive by 10:30am)

GOTO Board Transition

Today, GOTO hosted our 2009 Fall Volunteer Conference. In addition to regional updates, financial updates & karaoke with a few GOTO scholars (more on that soon!), we also unveiled our new-look Board of Directors.

Retiring immediately from regular Board duty is outgoing Chairman, Jason Liddell. Stephen Moeller (Treasurer and Director of Finance) & Geoff Adamson will be transitioning off of the Board in early 2010.

With these changes, GOTO's founding Directors (pictured in super-serious volunteering mode back in '03 above) have completely given way to an exciting new team of leaders (led by new Chairman & Executive Director, Rainah Berlowitz).

GOTO owes a lot to the contributions of Steve, Dana Deluce, Cam Snaith, Danny Salmon, Jason & Geoff (not pictured). But the future looks really bright in the hands of Rainah, Jon, Mel, Dave, Christine, Kelsy & Matt.

Below are the slides detailing the transition.

Thanks again to the founding Directors. And a hearty congratulations to the new Board!

GOTO By the Numbers

GOTO has been keeping pretty busy since our inaugural fundraiser in '01.  Here are some of the numbers behind our eight-year run:

55: The number of GOTO Scholars we've sent to Appel Farm Arts & Music Summer Camp.

$1,000,000+: The amount of money we've raised through donations & events.

140+: The number of summer camp experiences we've awarded to NYC middle school students.

25:  The number of schools we've partnered with in the five Boroughs.

150+: The number of donors & corporate sponsors who've supported GOTO.

25+: The number of GOTO fundraising events, attended by thousands of partygoers.

7: The number of GOTO volunteer Committees, comprised of more than 80 active volunteers.

2: The number of operational GOTO branches.  GOTO New York & GOTO Boston.

Pretty impressive numbers, if you ask me.   Thanks to everyone who's volunteered, donated & partied for GOTO since '01.  Hopefully the next eight years will be just as good.

GOTO on Adina Ba's Blog

Adina Ba is an advocate for citizenship and responsibility. A while back, she started a blog where she could (in her words) "share and disseminate easy ways for any concerned citizen to be an agent of change in their community and the world at large." She interviewed GOTO founder Cam Snaith last week and it's now posted on her blog.

Check out the interview here.
